Darn it, they were just starting to be fun!
Discovery Cove is looking towards being an all-female park in the future. The male dolphins we have now that are pros at interactions aren't going anywhere, however the younger ones they will slowly start finding new homes for at our other facilities. So this week we lost Yar and Nai'a, as well as their baby boys, Roka and Rhett. Neither Yar or Nai'a were very good at interactions and since both of their babies are boys management made the decision to bring them over to the nursery at SeaWorld. Our pool was in charge of taking care of the 4 of them, and those little boys were starting to be a whole bunch of fun. They were just starting to play with, and sometimes eat, fish. They were also getting pretty good at doing hand targets.

In their place we received three adult females from SeaWorld, two of which have lived at DC in the past. Madison and Dash are back with us, and they are joined by Kendall. The plan is for each pool to get one of them to add to their social group. I can't wait to find out which one we get! The only one of the 3 of them I've worked with is Madison - she's a super cool animal, is super smart and knows some really awesome behaviors!
